Thomas Wardwell and his brother, William were the first of this family to settle in the New World. Sailing from England in the summer of 1633 they landed in Boston, Mass. on September 4, 1633 on the ship Griffin. William made the trip with his wife Alice, his first wife, and Thomas was married to Elizabeth Woodruffe aboard the Griffin during the voyage. Thomas was 31 years old when he arrived in Boston. The 200 or more people aboard the Griffin included such people as; The Rev. John Cotton and Edmund Quincy. 1634-1637: Thomas Wardwell was considered a freeholder. 1638: The Rev. John Wheelwright came to Boston on May 26,1636 from Lincolnshire, England. Wheelwright became a preacher at Mount Wollaston, now called Braintree, which at that time was part of Boston. Wheelwright was a brother to Mrs. Ann Hutchinson whose Antinomious zeal brought her into public notice. During a fast in Boston in December of 1636, the Rev. Wheelwright preached a sermon that gave offense to reflect on ministers and magistrates. Rev. Wheelwright was summonsed to civil court to give in his answer explicitly, whether he would acknowledge his offense in preaching his late, seditious sermon, or abide the sentence of the Court. When he pleaded not-guilty of the crime and would leave the colony of his own accord he and his followers were then banished permanently from Massachusetts Bay Territory. Wheelwright bought land in what is now New Hampshire from the Indians called Squamscot Falls. In 1638 he began a Plantation called Exeter. The people formed themselves into a church outside the jurisdiction of Massachusetts and combined into a separate political body. This continued for three years with such people as Richard Merrys, Richard Bulgar, Philamon Purmont, Isaac Gosse, Christopher Marshall, George Baytes, Thomas Wardwell and William Wardwell. Thomas was appointed Justice and Commissioner to try small cases for the Jurisdiction. Exeter eventually fell under the Jurisdiction of Massachusetts, and Wheelwright's followers, still under banishment, had to move again. The people moved into the Province of Maine and settled at Wells around 1641. By the time Samuel was born the family had moved to Andover and Samuel was born in Boston.
(Notes, from 2 different sources)
Thomas and his brother William Wardwell, along with the Reverend John Cotton, Edmund Quincy, Anne Hutchinson, Wheelwright, and 200 other came to Boston on Sept. 4, 1633 on Griffin. Eight weeks sailing time from The Downs. Not long after their arrival, Thomas married Elizabeth Woodruffe. Thomas became a Freeman in the Mass. Bay Colony. The Puritans were non-conformists but could not amicably tolerate views different from their own. Anne Hutchinson was banished from the Colony in 1637, and was killed by Indians at Hell Gate about 1643. Thomas Wardwell was deprived of his arms and excluded from the Colony. He moved to Andover, Mass. where he was later restored to good standing.

Timothy Wooster Sr. was one of the principal citizens of Derby, living on the farmlands inherited from his father. In 1716 and again in 1726, he was chosen Selectman, being called in the record "Sergeant."
On 15 August 1693, Timothy bought a tract of land for 20 Pounds from a group of Indians, headed by one with the unusual name of Manquash Chesh-Con-Ug.
Timothy and his brothers Thomas, David and Henry are on a list of settlers who took the freeman's oath for the town of Derby before 1708.

William Sawyer, who came from England to Salem, Mass., about 1640, removed to Newbury, where a son WILLIAM was born in 1655. In an old burying-ground in Newburyport, there was a tier of tall, oldfashioned slate gravestones marking the earthly resting place of a Sawyer family, and from dates inscribed there they show that some were born in the mother country. | Sawyer, William (I5661)

William was the servant of Edmund Quinsey. He was admitted to the church in Boston on 9 Feb 1633/4. He was dismissed to Exeter NH on 6 Jan 1638/9 and signed the Exeter combination on 5 Jun 1639.
William then removed to Rhode Island where he was brought to trial in 1643 with Samuel Gorton and others on the charge of heresy; he was confined to Watertown. He removed to Wells, Maine by 1649.
When the commissioners of Massachusetts were summoning townspeople to take the oath of allegiance, he was charged with contempt of court for dissuading his neighbors from taking the oath. However, he maintained that he was absent from the meeting because he was trying to get his neighbors to join with Massachusetts. He took the oath on 5 Jul 1653, and subsequently returned to Boston.
In his will William bequeathed one half of his house in Boston to his wife Elizabeth for her life; he also mentioned his daughter Meribah, wife to Francis Littlefield of Wells Me, leaving her 10 shillings (NEHGR 48:458). The inventory of his estate was done 30 Apr 1670.

Zachary Bicknell and Agnes his wife sailed from England in the spring of 1635. He was 45 years of age, and his wife 37. The entire family at this time consisted of Zachary, his wife Agnes, their son John (11 yrs. of age) and John Kitchen, a servant, aged 23. This family group formed a part of the company of 106 English emigrants that came with the Rev. Joseph Hull, a forty year old minister, from Somerset and Dorset, and were permitted to settle at Weymouth, MA. Zachary Bicknell died within about a year after his arrival at Weymouth, not, however, until he had built a house and established a home, embracing twenty acres of unfenced land. His widow soon married Richard Rockett (or Rockwood), and the home of the Bicknells was sold to William Reade. His only son and heir, John, lived to produce a large posterity from which most of the Bicknell's in America descend. | Bicknell, Zachary (I8444)
