9423 The marriage certificate states that she was age 21 when married. The cemetery interment record says she was 32 when she died. Wooster, Gladys Rosamund (I8152)

9424 The May 14th date is the date Holcombe was admitted freeman. Family: Thomas Holcomb / Elizabeth ________ (F7013)

9425 The month is cut off, but I'm assuming it is February because it was sworn to a few days later. It's also possible it's January though. Neale, Sgt. Henry Sr. (I11952)

9426 The name "Leonard" is a very ancient one and is a surname which was derived from the Christian given name, "Leo" and carries the basic idea of lion-hearted. It is strange that those of the family who attained the honor of knighthood chose the head of a tiger, rather than of a lion, for use on their crest. Leonard, Solomon (I339)

9427 The name it is claimed by some genealogists, was originally spelled Brockett. The family came from Wales to England and Scotland. English history tells of a "William Brockett, an enlightened instructor at Cambridge College who received the honors of Knighthood." With Governor John Winthrop there sailed from Yarmouth, England, about nine hundred persons, most of whom came from the old city of Boston, England. Many of them were high-born, graduates of Oxford and Cambridge colleges. Among them were four brothers by the name of Brackett, Richard Brackett, who settled in Braintree, Massachusetts, now Quincy; Peter Brackett, who settled in Connecticut; William and Anthony Brackett, who went to Portsmouth, New Hampshire, with Captain John Mason, in 1631. Ebenezer Brackett, whose remains lie buried in the old Quincy burying ground near Boston, Massachusetts, came to this country prior to 1630, and from him are descended all the New England branches of this ancient family bearing the name of Brackett. On his tombstone appears the following inscription:--

"Ebenezer|Brackett.
Nathaniel|
He held many offices of church and State." (Taken from "Brackett" Genealogy at Lenox Library.)

TGMB says parents were Peter and Rachel Brackett.
Brackett, Peter (I2978)

9428 The name Kilgore comes from her son Henry's birth record in Maine. I can't find any Kilgore's in New Hampshire at the appropriate time, but I can find Kilburns. There is a Nathaniel Kilburn in Boscawen in 1790. The closest Kilgores are in Maine. I feel that Elizabeth may be a Kilborn, not a Kilgore, though. This may be a transcription error on the clerk's part when the Hallowell record was created. Kilgore, Elizabeth (I35112)

9429 The name was pronounced "EY-ons", thus the translation to Irons. Irons, Elizabeth (I44424)

9431 The NEHGR says about 1620, which I think is closer to reality then Anderson's 1615. Crowell, Yelverton (I17064)

9432 The New Hampshire death record says 1871, but since she appears in the 1870 census, 1870 is much more feasible. The 1875 RI census says she was born in Smithfield, Rhode Island. Rock, Ella M. (I19670)

9433 The Nutmegger has 3 Jan 1661/2, but that conflicts with Abraham if Abraham's dates are correct. The other sources give 1661 so I'm going with that. Tomlinson, Bathshua (I8343)

9434 The NYGBR seems to indicate that he and his family came on one of four ships: Hector, Griffin, Job Clement or Margaret ClementCoffin, Tristram Sr. (I7204)

9435 The NYGBR seems to indicate that the vessel was one of these four ships: Hector, Griffin, Job Clement or Margaret Clement. Also stating that these ships belonged to Robert Clement, who was also captain of one, and who also emigrated at the same time. Robert certainly did emigrate in 1642, but I haven't seen anything else that describes him as a sea captain. unknown vessel (I45340)
