    • Whereas it hath pleaed the lord to move the heart of our Dread Sovereigne
      Charles by the grace of god, king of England, Scotland, France & Ireland,
      to grant license & liberty to undry of his ubjects to grant them elves
      in the westerne partes of America : Wee his loyall ubjects brethren
      of the church in Ecceter, ituate and lying upon the riuer picataquacke
      wth other inhabitants there, conidering wth our elves the holy will of god & our
      owne necesity; that we hould not live wthout wholome lawes & ciuil government
      amongst us; of wch we are altogether destitute; doe in the name of christ,
      & in the ight of god, combine our elves together, to erect & et up amongst
      us uch Government, as hall be to our best dicerning, agreeable to the will
      of god : profesing our elves ubjects to our Sovereign Lord King Charles
      according to the libertys of our Englih Colony of the Masachuetts, & bind=
      ing our elves olemnly by the grace & helpe of christ & in his name, & feare
      to ubmit our elves to uch godly & christian laws as are etablihed in the
      Realme of England to our best knowledge; & to all other uch lawes wch
      hall upon good grounds, be made & inacted amongst us according to god yt we
      may live quietly & peaceablely together in all godlynes & honesty. Mon 5th
