    • If Long is correct, Thomas was found drowned in Tisbury Harbor on 20 Jun 1889 (the Thomas Abbott is the VRs has no identifying info as to who he is, age, etc.) but here's an interesting note: there is a Thomas F. Abbott, carpenter, born in Maine about 1847, living in Santa Fe, New Mexico in 1910 in the home of William H. and Effie M. (Blanchard) Laskey, from New Hampshire and Maine, respectively. I haven't found any reason Thomas would be in Martha's Vineyard, other than that he was a fisherman. Long clearly had errors with other members of this family.
