Truman Garrett was born before 1734 in Currituck Co., North Carolina. He was taxed in 1755 in Currituck Co., North Carolina. The 1755 NC Tax List also contains the names John and James Garrat and James Garrot. He served in the military about 1763 in the Regiment of Currituck under the command of Major Sergold. Also in the company were James, John and Joseph Garrett as well as Marmaduke Cox. He died after 1781 in Currituck Co., North Carolina. He was also known as Freeman Garrett and Trueman Garrot. Children were:

i. John Garrett was born before 22 Jan 1760 in Currituck Co., North Carolina.
