206. Ezekiel Hale (4150) (4151)(4152) (4153)(2080) (4154)(4155) (4156) was born on 13 May 1689 in Newbury, Essex Co., Massachusetts. (4157)(4158) (4159) "Descendants of Thomas Hale..." lists birth date as 16 Mar. 1689. He signed a will on 30 Oct 1736.(4160) His will bears date 30 Oct., 1736, was witnessed by Richard Bartlett, Joseph Hills and Daniel Bartlett, and proven by all three witnesses before Judge Thomas Berry at Ipswich, 28 April, 1740 (25:206). By it he gives to his wife Sarah, annually, as long as she remains his widow, 8 bushels Indian corn, 2 bushels wheat, 2 bushels rye, 2 bushels malt, 1 barrel cider, 130 lbs. pork and 70 lbs. beef, and 4 cords wood, "besides what I have given her by wrighting before marriage."

He gives to his son Ezekiel5 all his housing and lands in Newbury, his lands in Chester and Kingston, N. H., his cattle, horses, sheep and swine, utensils of husbandry, "and my negro man Cesar," etc.

Recites that he has given his d. Ruth œ157 that she has already received, and gives her one-sixth of his lands in Sutten. Recites same amount already given to d. Mary, and gives her one-sixth of Sutten lands.

Gives to each of his daughters, Edna, Sarah, Lydia and Hannah, œ157, payable "when she shall see cause to marry, or when she comes to the age of 21 years."

Gives to his brother Thomas Hale4 œ5, and appoints him executor. Thomas Hale4 was appointed administrator to settle that part of his estate not given by the will, 8 Sept., 1740 (23:25).

The account of Thomas Hale, executor and administrator, filed 4 Aug., 1740, credits by real estate, œ3,692, and by personal estate, œ2,410, 3, 8, and debits, paid debts, legacies, etc, œ875, 11, 3.

Abel Morse, Jr., and Edna his wife, of Newbury, gave receipt 15 May, 1740; he receipts for more 25 Dec., 1740, and she, her husband being dead, gives another receipt 14 July, 1741.

Barnett Brichett and Sarah his wife, of Newbury, gave receipt 15 May, 1740, and again 3 Nov., 1741.

John Merrill and Ruth his wife, of Newbury, and Roger Merrill and Mary his wife, of same, gave receipts 3 Nov., 1741.
