Sgt. Thomas Wardwell       was baptized on 31 Jan 1604
in Alford Parish, Well, co. Lincs,
England.
He emigrated from England in the summer of 1633
arriving in Boston, Suffolk Co., Massachusetts
on September 4, 1633 aboard the "Griffin".
He took the oath of
freeman on 4 Mar 1634/5.   
In 1638 after being disarmed, he moved with the Wheelwright adherents from Boston to
Exeter, Rockingham Co., New Hampshire.
He died on 10 Dec 1646 in Boston, Suffolk Co., Massachusetts.       He was a
shoemaker.       He was also known as Thomas Wardhall.
He was married to Elizabeth Woodroffe about 1631.  
Elizabeth Woodroffe
was baptized on 2 Mar 1601 in Marchington, co. Stafford,
England. She died on 22 Feb 1697 in Boston, Suffolk Co., Massachusetts.  
The Pioneers of Maine and New Hampshire, also by Pope, puts
the date as 2 Feb 1697. She was also known as Elizabeth Woodruff. Children were:
i.
Eliakim Wardwell    was born
in Nov 1634 in Boston, Suffolk Co.,
Massachusetts.  He was baptized
on 23 Nov 1634 in Boston, Suffolk Co., Massachusetts.   He died
in 1692 in Shrewsbury, Monmouth Co., New
Jersey. Being a Quaker,
he and his wife Lydia Perkins always encountered trouble, so they removed to
New Jersey.

Martha Wardwell    was born
in Aug 1637 in Boston, Suffolk Co., Massachusetts.   She was
baptized on 3 Sep 1637 in Boston, Suffolk Co., Massachusetts. 
iii.
Benjamin Wardwell    was born
on 6 Feb 1639/40 in
Exeter, Rockingham Co., New Hampshire.    He was a soldier under Scottow.
