Uluru

Ayer's Rock is spectacular! It rises from the flat desert floor all alone in the middle of nowhere. But a far more impressive sight here, and one I regret not photographing, is the night sky. Being as awestruck as I was, taking pictures was not my top priority. Here you stare into the heart of the Milky Way, something you can never see north of the equator. The sky at night here looks like a roiling thunderhead composed entirely of stars. It's truly amazing!
