Science Projects
Various projects we are involved with.
Astronomy
Astronomy
On a summer night there's nothing better than laying back and staring at the stars. This inspires our kids (as well as others), who would love to someday travel into space. Here is a description of our stargazing efforts as well as various interesting product and educational links.
Biology
Biology
We live in an area where we get to experience much of what nature has to offer first hand. We are surrounded by ocean, wetlands, forests, fields and farms. Additionally, we like to know what makes us who we are.
Computers/Electronics
Computers/Electronics
Marcy and I both work in the computer industry. Our son Niall is a tinkerer. Here are some links relating to our areas of expertise.
Energy
Energy
We are constantly on the lookout for sources of energy, other than fossil fuels. Our goal is to someday be self-sufficient in this regard.
Geography
Geography
Ever since I was a kid, I've loved maps. This a collection of wonderful geographic links that we use regularly.
Geology
Geology
We collect rocks. We cut them, we polish them and we just like to look at them. We also have a seismometer mounted in our barn monitoring for earthquake activity as part of a network hosted by Stanford University.
Meteorology
Meteorology
As we are amateur meteorologists, we have added a page of great links along with a description of our weather station and it's setup and use.
