William Hilton was born about 1535 in Lancaster, co. Lancs, England. He died in 1605 in Northwich, co. Cheshire, England. He was a saltmaker with the fish fleet. He was married to Ellen Mainwaring in 1569 in England.

Ellen Mainwaring died in Mar 1606 in London, co. Middlesex, England. She was buried on 27 Mar 1606. Children were:

i. Richard Hilton was born in 1571 in Northwich, co. Cheshire, England. He was baptized on 11 Jun 1599 in Witton Chapel, Northwich, co. Cheshire, England.
ii. Amy Hilton was born in 1573 in Northwich, co. Cheshire, England.
iii. Arthur Hilton was born in 1578 in Northwich, co. Cheshire, England. He died in 1612.
iv. William Hilton.
v. Edward Hilton was born in 1595 in Northwich, co. Cheshire, England. He was baptized on 5 Jun 1596 in Witton Chapel, Northwich, co. Cheshire, England. He emigrated from London, co. Middlesex, England in 1621 and established settlement in 1624 at Dover, Strafford Co., New Hampshire. He died in Dec 1671 in Newfields Village, Exeter, Rockingham Co., New Hampshire. He was a fishmonger.
