Daniel Wardwell was born on 17 Apr 1734 in York, York Co., Province of Maine, Massachusetts. He died on 7 Jan 1803 in Penobscot, Hancock Co., Province of Maine, Massachusetts. He was a sea captain, selectman. 

Daniel, Sarah and three sons (Jeremiah, Daniel, Jr. and Joseph) came to the Majorbagaduce. At one time the family owned one-quarter of the township of Penobscot. Daniel taught school, moved to "Bagaduce" about 1774, settling in Penobscot.

He was married to Sarah Staples on 6 Jan 1755 in York, York Co., Province of Maine, Massachusetts. Intentions published 24 Jan. 1755.

Sarah Staples was born on 4 Apr 1733 in Thompson's Point, Berwick, York Co., Province of Maine, Massachusetts. She was baptized as an adult with her son Eliakim. She died 23 Sep 1817 in Penobscot, Hancock Co., Province of Maine, Massachusetts. Children were:

i. Eliakim Wardwell was baptized on 26 Oct 1755 in 1st Parish, York, York Co., Province of Maine, Massachusetts.
ii. Col. Jeremiah Wardwell.
iii. Abigail Wardwell was baptized on 13 May 1759 in 1st Parish, York, York Co., Province of Maine, Massachusetts. She was born about 13 May 1759. She died after 30 Oct 1784.
iv. Capt. Daniel Wardwell Jr. was born on 11 Jan 1760 and baptized on 11 Mar 1767 in 1st Parish, York, York Co., Province of Maine, Massachusetts. He died on 21 Jul 1844 in Penobscot, Hancock Co., Maine. He was a sea captain. He was married to Mary Hutchings about 1788 in Penobscot, Hancock Co., Province of Maine, Massachusetts.
v. Tryphena Wardwell was born about 1761 in York, York Co., Province of Maine, Massachusetts. She was baptized on 1 Aug 1761 in 1st Parish, York, York Co., Province of Maine, Massachusetts. She died on 16 Jan 1813 in Scotland, Brant Co., Ontario, Canada. She was buried in Pioneer Cemetery, Oakland, Ontario, Canada.
vi. Temperance Wardwell was baptized on 24 Jul 1763 in 1st Parish, York, York Co., Province of Maine, Massachusetts. She died on 14 Aug 1838 in Frankfort, Waldo Co., Maine.
